LUNESTA BENEFITS
LUNESTA can be taken for the short- and long-term
Some people are concerned that once they start taking a sleep aid, they will have to keep taking it every night to get to sleep. But that's not the case. Some people take LUNESTA only on a short-term, as-needed, or occasional basis, while others with chronic sleep problems can take LUNESTA every night. Most people do not build a tolerance to LUNESTA. That means once you start taking LUNESTA, it will not lose its effectiveness over time. You and your doctor can determine a sleep plan that works best for you.
There is a low risk of rebound insomnia
After the discontinuation of some sleep medications, rebound insomnia may occur. This is the condition in which insomnia returns more severe than it was before taking the medication. Symptoms may include taking longer to fall asleep, waking up in the middle of the night and/or getting less sleep. Studies have shown that when most people take LUNESTA and then stop, their insomnia does not significantly worsen.
