What Is Lunesta?

What's Your Specific Sleep Problem?

It's important to tell your doctor all the details of your sleeplessness, including your specific symptom(s). The symptoms you’re experiencing can help determine the best type of treatment.

Below is a list of the most common symptoms of insomnia.

Trouble falling asleep:
People who have trouble falling asleep have sleep onset problems. Many toss and turn for quite awhile before dozing off.

Difficulty staying asleep through the night:
People who have difficulty staying asleep through the night have sleep maintenance problems. Some people wake up several times and can’t always fall back to sleep.

You can experience one or more of these symptoms, and they may change over time. They may also make it difficult to function during the day.

Your sleeplessness could be a symptom of another condition.

It's important to tell your doctor if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Loud snoring
  • Trouble breathing or gasping for breath
  • Restlessness in legs
  • Heartburn
  • Bad dreams
  • Pain/discomfort
  • Frequent urination
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

If so, your sleeplessness could be a symptom of a medical condition, including: sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, or another specific health problem. Only your doctor can determine the exact cause of your sleeplessness.

We've created an easy-to-use sleep diary. Your answers may help your health care professional recognize a problem and recommend the proper treatment. Keep this diary in a convenient place and bring it with you the next time you see your doctor.
