TREATING INSOMNIA
Knowledge is power. So the more you know about your sleeplessness, the more you can begin to take charge of your sleep and health. Don't assume insomnia is just a phase that will pass. Short-term insomnia may turn into chronic insomnia.
There's no reason to be embarrassed about losing sleep. We're here to help, and so is your doctor. Your symptoms could be signs of another medical condition. So it’s important to tell your doctor if you are experiencing any of the following:
- Loud snoring
- Trouble breathing or gasping for breath
- Restlessness in legs
- Heartburn
- Bad dreams
- Pain/discomfort
- Frequent urination
- Depression
- Anxiety
These could be symptoms of sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, or another specific health problem. Only your doctor can determine the exact cause of your sleeplessness. Once you’ve discussed your specific symptoms and how long you’ve been experiencing them, your doctor can determine the exact cause of your sleeplessness and find a sleep plan that works best for you.
